Qtstalker Debian packages

About Qtstalker

Qtstalker is a program for charting and technical analysis of stock and commodity markets. Its features include:

Qtstalker is the brainchild of Stefan Stratigakos. He is leading its development on SourceForge, at http://sourceforge.net/projects/qtstalker. Feel free to visit that site and contribute to the development of Qtstalker. Your bug reports, wishes, patches and encouragement are welcome!

Getting the Debian packages

I have packaged Qtstalker for Debian, in order to make it easier for Debian users to install and upgrade Qtstalker. In July 2004 the packages were accepted into the official Debian archives. This means that Qtstalker updates will automatically show up up in your favourite apt-frontend. Look for qtstalker and qtstalker-doc.

Because I am no official Debian Developer (yet), I can only upload packages via a so-called sponsor. This often takes a (very) long time. If you can't wait that long, just add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

    deb     http://www.zwets.com/debs    unstable/

And you'll always keep up with the latest and greatest version. If you also want to apt-get the sources, add the following line:

    deb-src http://www.zwets.com/debs    unstable/

Alternatively, you can download the latest debs from the Files section of the Qtstalker project site at SourceForge, or right here and install them using dpkg -i. Look for qtstalker_*.deb and qtstalker-doc_*.deb.

If your package manager gives GPG errors because it cannot verify the signatures, execute the following to add my public key to your apt key ring:

    $ gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv-keys AFC0079DA217C012
    $ gpg --armor --export AFC0079DA217C012 | sudo apt-key add -

Note that these packages are targeted at testing/unstable, so if you are running Debian stable (Etch), you won't be able to install them. If you need packages for stable, drop me a line on the Qtstalker forums at SourceForge. I can build a backport if there is some demand for it.
